Emanu-El Cemetery timeline from 1860-1899

This website has been created as part of an ongoing project at the University of Victoria, documenting the Emanu-el Cemetery. The ongoing Anthropology 467: Heritage and Historical Archaeology Field Course at Emanu-El Cemetery course, with Dr. Erin McGuire, has been combining teaching students locally about field work, and working with the local Jewish community to document the cemetery and research the individuals buried there. Having worked on this project in a variety of aspects, and as a current student of Anthropology 485: Digital Archaeology, with Dr. Katherine Cook.

There is a lot of overlap in the information in the records and the timeline. The goal of the project has been to create an interactive and easily accessible format of the information to help make people feel more connected to the information, and to have them interact with it a bit more directly. Additionally, it will be linked to the field school website for the students, professors and community members who have an interest in the ongoing research being done.
